Designed in collaboration with Benjamin Hubert of design agency Layer, Bang & Olufsen's Beosound Emerge speaker is inspired by the compact appearance of a half-open book, with a slim, sculptural silhouette.
B&O Beosound Emerge, acoustic package
On the sound side, the Beosound Emerge is equipped with a 37 mm midrange in an inclined position, like the 15 mm soft dome tweeter, positioned at the front. Finally, the 101 mm woofer radiates to the rear for a wide distribution of bass. Each loudspeaker has its Class D amplification, respectively 30 W, 30 W and 60 W for a total of 120 watts. Note that the low frequencies are optimized via the exclusive Active Room Compensation technology, adapting the sound profile to the positioning of the speaker in space.
B&O Beosound Emerge, connectivity and multiroom
Two Beosound Emerge can be paired over Wi-Fi ac for a stereo setup, and the speaker is compatible with the Bang & Olufsen Connected Speakers setup, allowing the user to create a speaker network. Also note the multiroom functionality through compatibility with Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast (integrated), as well as the presence of a radio tuner and a microphone for voice control via Google Assistant. Similarly, the B&O Beosound Emerge accesses Web radios via TuneIn and Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility is included.
In terms of ergonomics, in addition to the Bang & Olufsen app, the supplied remote control or Google Assistant, control of the Beosound Emerge for simple commands is also possible thanks to the touch panel located at the top of the speaker . The latter provides volume management, skipping to the next or previous song plus direct access to a radio station, a Spotify playlist or a Google macro.
B&O Beosound Emerge, the floor to Christoffer Poulsen, senior vp and head of product management Bang & Olufsen
“Our vision for Beosound Emerge was to design the thinnest speaker possible capable of delivering ultra-wideband and full-spectrum sound, all in a small form factor thanks to a revolutionary new driver configuration,†says Christoffer Poulsen, senior vice president and head of product management at Bang & Olufsen. Placed on a shelf in the bedroom or slid into a corner of the kitchen, Beosound Emerge allows, with its slim design, to extend your listening in a new room or to associate with another speaker already present in the same space for a minimal footprintâ€.
B&O Beosound Emerge, the word to Benjamin Hubert, founder of Layer
“Our studio seeks to establish lasting partnerships with the brands we work with. Beosound Emerge was born from our second collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, says Benjamin Hubert, founder of Layer. This ultra-thin speaker has been designed to take up as little space as possible while ensuring optimum audio performance, in response to soaring residential real estate prices. At Layer, we are convinced that technology should contribute to happiness, but does not necessarily have to be a subject of its own expression. This is why it seemed important to us to imagine a new architectural form with a real sculptural sensitivity and the use of materials more traditionally associated with our interiors. The result is a design that stands out widely in the saturated market for audio equipment and that simply fits into any interiorâ€.
