Deep Impact, fiction or reality? 4K Ultra HD in orbit

One of the major disaster films of the 90s returns in 4K Ultra HD on May 3 from Paramount. And its subject is clearly less and less futuristic…

Deep Impact versus Armageddon was the match shown in theaters in 1998. Same story (a big pebble crashes into the Earth), same consequence (the end of the world), same solution (a space mission) and same result ( that works !).

Deadly Valentine's Day?

Not so fanciful, Mimi Leder's film was based on true scientific facts and NASA's Neat project, intended to identify celestial bodies likely to collide with our globe. Program which finally led last October to a world first: to deflect Dimorphos, a small moon in orbit around the large asteroid Didymos, thanks to an intentional impact with DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test).

A little more info…

To return to pure fiction, with spatial scenes of marvelous definition and colors that already sparkle with arrogance in Blu-Ray, Deep Impact 4K UHD should be on fire from May 3rd at Paramount.

No further information at this time. A previous Blu-Ray edition offered audio commentary by director Mimi Leder and the visual effects manager, a short 8-minute report on the origin of the project, a 12-minute making of the final collision scene, a report on the organization and filming of the traffic jam scene (6 minutes), a focus on test screenings (5 minutes) and a photo gallery.
