In the early 80s, the slasher (profitable sub-genre of horror cinema) experienced its golden age with the Friday the 13th series (Sean S. Cunningham), the uneven sequels to Halloween (initiated by John Carpenter in 1978) and many awkward films like Maniac by William Lustig, Murders on Valentine's Day (George Mihalka, 1981), The House of Sorority Row (Mark Rosman, 1982).
