Neither lens nor image capture, the future of AI photography?

Incredible concept, this camera completely devoid of sensors, but capable of generating images thanks to artificial intelligence.

To fuel the heated debate around Midjourney-type artificial intelligence (AI) image generators, designer Bjørn Karmann came up with a functional and rather crazy concept: a camera without image capture capabilities , but still capable of generating AI-backed images that would be an interpretation of the reality in front of the photographer.

Photographing the invisible?

Named Paragraphica, the device actually works by being fed with data provided by the user, starting with his geographical position. The machine thus uses data from Google Street View to give a realistic representation of the place towards which you point “the objective”. Other parameters taken into account: weather, time, notable buildings nearby, and others. This data helps create text, which is then interpreted by the AI to generate an image.

There is of course only one copy of this incredible device, but know that you can test it yourself and now via a virtual version available on this link. Crazy, right?
