Among the new functions arriving on iPhone at the start of the school year with iOS17, Apple presented StandBy, which makes your smartphone a kind of connected screen that you can put down when you are not using it, and which then acts as a 'clock and displays other information of your choice (see photo below).
Apple Connected Monitor/Display
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a similar option could be coming to a Mac computer screen. Concretely, the screen connects everything normally to your computer, but when you no longer use it, it would become autonomous and then take on the role of Smart screen, displaying photos, videos, the time, the weather, a music player, etc.
Monitor / screen connected equipped with a series A chip
For this purpose, the screen would be equipped with an A-series chip (the one found on the iPhone in particular) as well as a software suite to manage the functionalities independently of a computer. Today, Apple's Studio Display screen is equipped with an A13 Bionic chip to manage minimalist functions such as Siri or audio spatialization. Gurman adds that such a device would not be revealed in 2023 and would arrive next year at the earliest.
