Revealed to the whole world on Independence Day on July 4, this sphere that one would believe to be alive is in fact entirely made up of LED panels over its entire 16,000 m2. One can hardly imagine the treasures of engineering and technicality that presided over such a result, but the extraordinary rendering is, let's face it, quite exciting for the future.
Many Twitter, media and video accounts (below) have already referenced the "thing" and help to realize the scale by comparing the size of nearby cars.
Postcard from Earth, a show made for the Sphere by Darren Aronofsky
Estimated at $2.2 billion, its cost should pay for itself over time with the events held there, starting with the Postcard from Earth experience in the fall, the first-ever show created to pull take full advantage of this massive creation, its 16K x 16K resolution and its 164,000 speakers (immersive surround sound that radiates directly to you). A show directed by Darren Aronofsky (The Whale, The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream).
A fervent defender of the environment, Aronofsky has already worked in the production of naturalist documentaries, notably with Welcome to Earth for Disney+ with Will Smith exploring the wonders of the Earth, the sensory and visual series One Strange Rock (available on Canal+), or the virtual reality experience Spheres: Songs of Spacetime, a VR experience, with the voices of Jessica Chastain, Millie Bobby Brown and Patti Smith.
Another event already announced at the Sphère in October and which should be a milestone, a U2 concert. Ticket office open by clicking on The Sphere website.
