The American box office of the summer started with two strong results for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and was marked by two disasters: The Flash and Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny. The arrival in US theaters of Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1 (click for our review of the film) is likely to make everyone agree.
Indeed, specialists are expecting a crazy weekend with 250 million dollars in receipts for Tom Cruise's new mission: 90 million for the USA and around 160 million for the 70 countries in which the movie out.
Sounding start required, don't worry
Remember that the film's budget is around 291 million dollars and that only a resounding start will allow it to cover its costs. Also note that Top Gun: Maverick grossed $256 million worldwide in its first three days of operation, and ended its run at $1.5 billion.
At the moment, the best result of a Mission impossible is for Fallout at 173 million dollars during its first weekend of exploitation in the United States. The bar is high, but nothing is impossible for Tom Cruise.
