Quietly, YouTube recently increased the price of its YouTube Premium and YouTube Music services in the United States. More specifically, the first goes to $13.99 per month (or $2 increase), and the second to $10.99 (or $1 increase). For the moment, in France these rates remain at $11.99 and $9.99 respectively. But for how long ?
The word to Jessica Gibby, spokesperson for YouTube
As for YouTube Music, we can see that this increase is in line with other competitors who have recently also gone to the price of $10.99, in particular Apple Music, Amazon Music and Tidal (and most recently Spotify). "We're updating the price for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers in the US to continue to provide great service and a host of features," YouTube spokesperson Jessica Gibby told The Verge. We believe this new price reflects the value of YouTube Premium, which allows subscribers to enjoy YouTube ad-free, with background and offline playback, and uninterrupted access to over 100 million songs through the YouTube Music app. We regularly reassess our rates as conditions change in countries around the world. Any future price increases will first be communicated directly to existing members, providing at least 30 days notice before any price increase takes effect.â€
