Fifty years after its theatrical release in the United States (which earned it the R-Restricted rating, prohibited for children under 17), Tobe Hooper's cult masterpiece, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, returns for the first time in France in 4K UHD version within the Ultra Collector (CUC) #25 box set from the French publisher Carlotta x TF1 Studio.
Second good news, the 4K release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will also be accompanied in the box set by a reissue of Jean-Baptiste Thoret's book, An American Experience of Chaos, which has not been found for a while.
Restored in 4K under the supervision of Tobe Hopper
Recall that Hooper's low-budget 16mm film, known for its coarse grain and grimy vibe, is set in Texas, when a group of youths traveling the area run out of gas and stops at an old abandoned house. It doesn't take long for them to meet the inhabitants of the adjoining house... and to live an experience on the borders of the intelligible.
HDR Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and exclusive bonuses
Already restored in 4K ten years ago under the supervision of the filmmaker himself for a Blu-Ray Collector's edition released at the time by TF1 Vidéo, the film will this time be presented in HDR Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for the VO (VF DTS HD Master Audio 1.0), and accompanied by valuable bonuses for nearly 9 hours of viewing, namely:
