Inspired by a poem written in the early 80s by the director of Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas brings together the dark and gothic universe of Halloween with the magic of Christmas. The film celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
227 puppets and 13 animators later
A daring project that Tim Burton proposed to the slightly cautious Disney studios at first but which ended up injecting 15 million dollars for it to see the light of day. Already committed to two feature films (the sequel to Batman and Ed Wood then in pre-production), Burton entrusted the direction of the film to Henry Selick, a stop-motion specialist.
Pre-order open
Spread over three years, the filming required no less than thirteen animators, a hundred prop makers, an armada of technicians and 227 puppets with an impressive range of expressions.
