Before the iPhone 14, the previous ranges of Apple's smartphone were unified around the same processor. But since last year, only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have switched to the new A16 chip, where the other two cheaper models remained in the previous generation.
A17 chip for iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, A16 chip for iPhone 15/15 Plus
Rumors have therefore already predicted that this will also be the case for the next iPhone 15 range, the Pro and Pro Max being differentiated by the very first mobile processor engraved in 3 nm, the A17. A prediction recently confirmed by model numbers dug up by the “leaker†@aaronp13 in the code of the next tvOS17. Without going into details, the model numbers for each of the next four iPhone 15s correspond to the canvas already used for those of last year, confirming that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will carry the A16, and that the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will benefit from the A17.
