Is there a cop to save the queen? : 35 years in 4K Ultra HD

The cult comedy Is There a Cop to Save the Queen? (1988, The Naked Gun in original version) returns to the forefront. An edition in 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray format is expected for the 35th anniversary of the film.

In 1982, the ZAZ gang (aka David Zucker, Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams) created the parody series Police Squad on ABC. Six episodes, now cult, which marked the history of the small screen.

Six years later, the same crew - Jim Abrahams, Jerry Zucker and David Zucker on the screenplay (and also on camera for the latter) - brought their series to the cinema and offered us the film Y'a-t- there a cop to save the queen?. A film which gave rise to two sequels, undoubtedly a little less successful.

Channel gags, cult

!

We find Leslie Nielsen in the role he had in the series: Lieutenant Frank Drebin, specialized in chain disasters and surrealist misunderstandings, always under the orders of Captain Ed Hocken (Alan North), generally overwhelmed by the events. Actress Priscilla Presley completes the cast, she plays Jane Spencer, with whom Frank Drebin will fall in love.

If the story of Is There a Cop to Save the Queen? is not really of interest, since it is mainly the pretext for numerous gags revolving around the arrival of Queen Elizabeth II in Los Angeles…

For its 35th anniversary, the film is getting a beautiful 4K UHD/Blu-Ray edition in the form of a Collector's Steelbook available on November 29 from Paramount. Pre-orders are already open.
