The Magnificent 50th anniversary, Jean-Paul Belmondo forever

A parody of an iconoclastic spy film written by Francis Veber (with Jean-Paul Rappeneau and Philippe de Broca), who demanded that his name be removed from the credits upon seeing the first rushes… And yet, Le Magnifique will be a landmark. It comes out in 4K Ultra HD for its 50th anniversary.

François Merlin (Bébel), a small-scale novelist, writes the adventures of the secret agent Bob Saint-Clar with whom he identifies, but with whom he has neither the stature nor the panache. Originally titled How to destroy the reputation of the most famous secret agent in the world?, The Magnificent also revealed the charm of Jacqueline Bisset.

Released in 1973, The Magnificent celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and is getting a 4K (HDR10) release which should honor the scenes shot in Mexico, literally bursting with color. The previous Blu-Ray edition already displayed impeccable sharpness and incredible sharpness. We can't wait, especially since a lot of bonuses will be released :

• Booklet by film critic Guillemette Odicino (24 pages)• Presentation of the film by Michel Gondry (8 minutes)• Audio commentary by Philippe de Broca and Jérôme Wybon• How to destroy the reputation of the most famous secret agent? (37 minutes)• Belmondo secret agent: filming of the film (5 minutes)• On the set (12 minutes)

Magnifique 4K released by Studiocanal on October 31, pre-order already open.
