This is the second time that the Disney Parks attraction, The Haunted Mansion, has become a film. Most movie buffs remember that in 2003, Eddie Murphy was the star of The Haunted Mansion and the 999 Ghosts. Last July, the director of Dear White People, Justin Simien, brought together Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Winona Ryder and especially Danny DeVito in front of his camera for a new adaptation also entitled The Haunted Mansion.
No Guillermo but a DeVito
If we regret that Guillermo del Toro, once tipped to direct the film, has left the ship, this Haunted Manor remains a not unpleasant family film (Danny DeVito is certainly an asset, check out our review) which can easily enhance the long winter evenings. The film will be released by Disney on January 17 in a 4K UHD+Blu-Ray combo with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos labels.
