R_volution PlayerOne, new media player: updated indicative price and availability

Since our news this morning on the new R_volution PlayerOne multimedia player, competitor to the Zappiti Signature, Zappiti Reference and Zappiti Neo players, and the R_volution Nas hard drive allowing you to store a library of hundreds or thousands of DVDs, Blu-Rays and/ or 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray, both planned in France by the end of the year, we know more about the indicative price and availability of these materials.

As a reminder, the R_volution PlayerOne, a new product distributed in France by HD Land, offers an experience close to that of the Zappiti players and the eponymous application, signed by the company of the same name which ceased its activities recently , after 14 years of existence.

R_volution PlayerOne and R_video, 100% dematerialized audio-video experience

The R_volution PlayerOne is based on a similar principle, offering the possibility of ripping your own film/series or music discs onto the player's hard drive or onto the R_volution Nas (Nas hard drive, see photo below ) and then benefit from it, in a completely dematerialized way, using a dedicated application, R_video. The latter, graphically superb with animated backgrounds, offers the film poster, all the associated technical information, its distribution... The application also allows you to browse its library of titles via various filters (title, actor, director, categories, release date, length, etc.), to automatically group and manage sagas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Game of Thrones, etc.), launch a trailer, etc. All with unprecedented speed.

In terms of image quality, the R_volution PlayerOne is promising. In addition to HDR10, HDR10+, HDR Dolby Vision, VS10 mode (exclusive algorithm developed by Dolby Laboratories for 12-bit processing of HDR signals), which can be activated on demand on SDR signals to convert them to HDR, and vice versa, offers real image enhancement. Of course, 4K Ultra HD Upscaling is also required.

R_volution PlayerOne, multiroom experience

Good news, in the presence of several R_volution players, the R_Share function allows a multiroom configuration to enjoy content in several rooms in a home. While up to four 1080p quality signals can be streamed simultaneously, streaming is limited to two streams in 4K Ultra HD quality. And to top it all off, the upcoming R_Sync feature will perfectly and automatically synchronize content between different players to resume playback exactly where you left off when moving from one room to another.

R_volution PlayerOne, connectivity

Before returning in more detail, later, to the characteristics of the R_volution multimedia player, a visual of its rear panel tells us about its connectivity: an HDMI input, an HDMI CEC 2.0a output, an HDMI 1.4, an optical output, an optical output, an RCA stereo output, a Composite output, a USB-C port, two USB ports (one 2.0 plus one 3.0) and an Ethernet port.

R_video, better than the Zappiti reference?

For the rest, all the brilliant functions popularized by the Zappiti application in recent years are here with the R_video application: downloading subtitles, pictograms of all kinds to define and label content, poster of signed films R_video (the R_volution database has approximately 18,000 posters at the time of writing), parental controls, customization of the user interface, playback of a film soundtrack while browsing, management of 24 Hz signals and 23.976 Hz…

R_video, support for Dune and Zappiti players in focus

But, in addition to the upcoming availability of R_volution players, the best good news concerns the desire of the developers of the R_video application to support other multimedia players available on the market, for example Dune and Zappiti (the Zappiti Cloud support is still in place at the time of writing these lines but it should stop quickly and it will no longer be possible to enrich its library). This would allow owners of this equipment to continue using their equipment even if the creation of a new account and a new content library will be necessary.

Immediate availability. Indicative price: €799 for the R_volution PlayerOne player and €2,999 for the R_volution Nas hard drive.
