The Max streaming platform finally official in France, right on cue for the Olympics

Max is almost there. The former streaming platform HBO Max, to which we notably owe House of the Dragon, which became Max after the merger, will be launched next summer in France. And this time, for sure, the Warner Bros Discovery group (HBO, Eurosport, etc.) announced it at Mipcom in Cannes.

In the previous episode, HBO Max had merged with HBO, Warner Bros and DC Studios and other US channels such as HGTV, Food Network, Discovery Channel, TLC and ID. Now Max and launched in May in the USA, Warner's new streaming platform will arrive in the spring in 22 European countries, but in the summer of 2024 in France. And with it, the arrival of a cohort of cult series like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, True Detective, but also the Warner sagas Harry Potter, Mad Max, King Kong or Matrix.

Maximum Olympic Games this summer

This summer in France, Max's arrival will also coincide exactly with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Enough to follow the various events live via Eurosport, which holds the broadcast rights with France Télévions. Also on the sports program: tennis with the Grand Slam tournament, or cycling with the Grand Tours.

Laure Calamy is filming for Warner Bros Discovery

Among the announcements, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has ordered its first “Max Original” from France with La mythomane du Bataclan, an ultra delicate series in four episodes led by Laure Calamy (Dix pour cent, Antoinette et les Cévennes) , inspired by the true story of a woman, a false survivor of the Bataclan, who made her way into a victims' association, and quickly became one of its pillars. La mythomane du Bataclan should be broadcast on Max next fall.

Until then and until the end of the year (due to the end of rights), it is currently still possible to access HBO content via the Warner Pass on Prime Video. Source: Variety
