Paris. Michael James (Peter O'Toole), editor-in-chief of a women's magazine, is an incorrigible seducer who has difficulty committing to his friend Carole (Romy Schneider). In order to see things more clearly, he embarks on analysis sessions with Doctor Fritz Fassbender (Peter Sellers). Problem: the therapist suffers from a major sexual frustration complex.
