That's it, it's official, all of the aforementioned James Cameron films will be released in 4K remastered, and their dates are now known. They will be preceded by their 4K digital equivalent, including new bonuses which will arrive on platforms like iTunes or Amazon from December 12.
Remastered and supervised by James Cameron, Titanic, Abyss, True Lies and Aliens will be shown in a completely new light with Dolby Vision HDR label for the image and Dolby Atmos mixing for the sound (100 GB discs). Each edition will be accompanied by several hours of new bonuses.
Release schedule
• December 5, 2023: Titanic 25th anniversary release in physical 4K and digital format
• December 6, 2023: Abyss release in cinemas in the USA• December 12, 2023: Aliens, Abyss release , True Lies, Avatar and Avatar 2 in digital
• December 19, 2023: Avatar and Avatar 2 release in 4K physical format
• March 12, 2024: Aliens, Abyss, True Lies release in 4K physical format
Note that the Abyss bonuses will include a new series of interviews with James Cameron watching his film, as well as several behind-the-scenes featurettes and a documentary on True Lies. The 4K Ultra HD of Aliens and Abyss will be available in both their edits, cinema version and Diretor's Cut version. Hallelujah!
