The Top 5 4K Ultra HD sales in 2023 in France, still at the end of September, are logically dominated by Avatar 2: The Way of Water ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, John Wick 4 and The Last of Us season 1. You notice, only four titles are mentioned, the fault of Avatar 2 which monopolizes the first two positions in the ranking with the classic and Steelbook versions.

The screenshot below also shows the sales of each of these 4K Ultra HD titles, namely a little over 25,000 units for Avatar 2: The Way of Water Steelbook version, a little over 27,000 units for Avatar 2: The Way of Water classic version, 11,000 units for Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3, 9,000 units for John Wick 4 and 6,000 units for The Last of Us season 1. Namely, the film Avatar 2 is therefore producing a total of approximately 53,000 4K Ultra HD units for a store release of 250,000 copies in all formats (DVD, Blu-Ray and Ultra HD Blu-Ray).

These figures confirm those published in our previous news on the subject (France 2023 video market figures) regarding the significant weight of new products in the 4K Ultra HD format market segment. The latter should also end the year 2023 with a bang with availability only in November, so not counting at the time of the UHD Partners conference, the huge titles Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1, Barbie or even Oppenheimer.
