According to a self-proclaimed expert in integrated circuits on the Chinese social network Weibo (via wccftech), Apple has ceased production of its iPhone chips dedicated to fingerprint recognition.
Facial recognition on 100% of iPhones?
Since the arrival of facial recognition on the iPhone X in 2017, the fingerprint sensor has only appeared on entry-level iPhone SEs. And rumors claim that the next iPhone SE will adopt the design of the iPhone 14, thus integrating facial recognition for the first time at the expense of digital unlocking.
The last rumors dating from 2021 estimated that the fingerprint sensor could return by being integrated under the screen. But nothing is less certain, even if the Android competition has been using this kind of technology for a while now.
