A date is circulating for an extension of the broadcast of France 2 UHD and France 3 UHD outside Paris and its region, January 23, 2024. The latter was communicated by Jacques Donat-Bouillud, director of development of broadcast and distribution of France Télévision, on its account

However, and to respond to some who are surprised not to have read this date in our columns, it remains very (very) uncertain. Everything depends in fact on the broadcasting authorizations issued by Arcom (Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication), the independent French public authority which results from the merger of the Superior Audiovisual Council -CSA- and the High Authority for the dissemination of works and the protection of rights on the internet, dated January 1, 2022. And at the time of writing these lines, the authorizations are still not there nor even the list of authorized sites. But it is planned for the next few days/weeks.
In short, the date of January 23 for the switching on of other transmitters (including many of the largest French cities) has a strong chance of moving… or not. With, as we recall, increasing coverage of the metropolitan population, around 70%, until June. Without forgetting the nine overseas communities a little later.
