The LG QNED80T TV series has six references, the LG 50QNED80T (50'', 127 cm), LG 55QNED80T (55'', 140 cm), LG 65QNED80T (65'', 165 cm), LG 75QNED80T (75' ', 191 cm), LG 86QNED80T (86'', 218 cm) and LG 98QNED80T (98'', 249 cm).
LG QNED80T, main specifications
As a reminder, the LG QNED TV series top the brand's LCD range. Namely, the QNED80T screens, like the QNED80/81/82 vintage 2023 (pictured in this news while waiting for the good visuals provided by the brand) use the Edge LED Local Dimming backlighting system (called Advanced Local Dimming at LG). On the other hand, the technology called QNED Color replaces that Quantum Dot Nanocell Color presented last year. Of course, the Nanocell process intended to offer extremely pure RGB colors for a very natural and dynamic on-screen rendering, by eliminating the wavelengths corresponding to the yellow color thanks to a layer of nanoparticles thick of 1 nm (to obtain very pure green and red hues) is always required.
Finally, we also note that the 2023 design of QNED TVs allows two TV positions, 35 mm or 75 mm in height, to easily accommodate a soundbar.
LG QNED80T, new Alpha 5 processor
For the rest, we find the new Alpha 5 processor, derived from last year's Alpha 7 Gen 4 and adapted to 50/60 hertz panels. To do so, while we find all the AI Sound Pro features of the Alpha 8 and Alpha 9 Gen 7 on the Alpha 5, the AI Picture Pro features are all absent. On the menu, therefore, 9.1.2 virtual surround sound, AI Clear Sound and even the Dynamic Sound Booster. Without forgetting of course AI ThinQ and the webOS24 interface which we will come back to in more detail in a future update.
LG QNED80T, what about HDR and sound?
While LG has not given any details on the HDR qualities of the LG QNED80T TVs, they should not differ from those of last year's LG QNED75/80 TVs. Which leads to the absence of HDR Dolby Vision in favor of HDR10. Likewise, no Dolby Atmos compatibility either. We will have to wait for a more detailed presentation of these screens to know precisely their equipment in the field.
In the audio chapter, the 2.0 sound section delivering a power of 20 W of LG QNED80/81/82 TVs from 2023 should be renewed. However, check.
LG QNED80T, native 10-bit 50/60 Hz IPS LCD panel
In addition to an Edge LED Local Dimming backlighting system already mentioned, the LG QNED80T TVs are built from a native 10-bit Ultra HD IPS LCD panel /5060 Hz and a simple DVB-T2, DVB-S2 and DVB-C. Plus Canal Ready and Fransat certifications.
LG QNED80T, Smart TV ThinQ AI on the menu
We also find the new ThinQ AI 2024 platform equipped with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessible directly on the remote control via a dedicated button. Of course, AirPlay 2 and HomeKit are on the menu. Everything allows access to the internet and specific services (LG App Store online store, chat on social networks, etc.), or even directly to the web, like on a computer. Finally, Wisa compatibility for connecting wireless speakers and the Home Dashboard function to view at a glance all the equipment connected and/or connected to the screen are included.
Also present, HBBTV compatibility and the UPnP multimedia gateway function (DLNA) associated with Miracast, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0 APT-X compatibility. The latter allows the pairing of headphones, a suitable speaker or the activation of the LG Sound Sync function to connect, for example, a wireless compatible soundbar to the TV. Or, via the Bluetooth Surround function, assign LG Bluetooth speakers as surround speakers to recreate a multi-channel audio configuration. Not forgetting the Magic Remote with integrated microphone for greatly improved ergonomics in voice control.
Also worth mentioning is the DVR function for recording your favorite programs via one of the three USB Host ports on a suitable stick or an external hard drive, and the Time Shifting function.
LG QNED80T, zoom on the connections
We note the presence of two HDMI CEC 2.1 inputs (one of which has the eARC function) plus two HDMI CEC 2.0, all HDCP 2.3 compatible. The rest of the connectivity, not specified by the manufacturer LG, should also include an optical output plus three Fat32 and NTFS compatible USB Host ports, an RS-232C socket and an Ethernet port. Likewise, MP3, AAC, Dolby Digital, WMA, VP9, HEVC, Xvid, VC-1, Mpeg, Mpeg 2, Mpeg 4 and Jpeg compatibility should be ensured. To be checked later.
Namely, the photos in this news are those of the 2023 vintage QNED90 models, while waiting for the good visuals provided by the brand.
