Neve Campbell could return in Scream 7

After the departures of the two main actresses Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera from the Scream franchise, Neve Campbell could take the opportunity to make her comeback.

If the launch of Scream 7 has been official for a while, its production got off to a bad start with the dismissal of Melissa Barrera after her positions on the war between Israel and Hamas, then the departure of Jenna Ortega because of a busy schedule, followed by that of director Christopher Landon four weeks later. In short, the bad news tended to pile up. After much thought, the producers finally decided to bring back emblematic figures of the franchise, starting, why not, with Neve Campbell who has played Sidney Prescott since the beginning of the saga (Scream, 1996). She reprized her role in 2011 then 2022, before slamming the door on Scream 6, believing that she was not paid enough.

However in a recent interview, when we asked her the question of her possible return to the franchise, the actress opened the door: “Under good conditions? Yes. I made a statement several years ago, and that's why I didn't make the film at the time. I really felt the need to bang my fist on the table, to say that if I had been a man running a franchise for 25 years, I don't think I would have been treated like this, and I still think that. So if they choose to come back to me, they will have to remember that. We will see ".

And even more recently to declare: “Honestly, I have no idea what they have planned. I know there's been a lot going on around Scream recently and I'm sure they're thinking about the right formula. These films mean a lot to us and they mean a lot to the fans. I sometimes go to these conventions and meet the fans, they are totally addicted to the films of the franchise. They love them. These films mean a lot to them and these characters mean a lot to them. So, if only to please them, I would like it to continue."

The latest news is that James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are indeed leaving again from scratch and wrote a completely new script for the film. So it could be a while before Ghostface and those who hunt him return to screens, but the prospect of a Neve Campbell comeback is now more than likely. Source: Variety
