A seemingly practical gadget, the Apple AirTag is both a source of good news and more sordid stories. In short, it does not leave one indifferent and we are surprised that a new version has not already been released, knowing that the original arrived in April 2021.
AirTag 2, not before AirTag stocks run out…££££
A little more patience assures us Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. According to the indiscretions he has collected, the next generation of AirTags will not arrive before 2025. One of the reasons given for this wait is the still very large stocks that Apple has not yet sold. The warehouses and backrooms of Apple Stores are in fact still full of AirTags which have not found a buyer.
AirTag 2 with broadband chip?££££
In terms of improvement, the AirTag 2 should benefit from a new broadband chip, the one used in the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2. It would thus be able to communicate with the iPhone and Apple Watch over greater distances than the current model.
