According to the latest indiscretions collected from Asian component suppliers by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 17 range would be equipped for its selfie camera with a 24 Mpxls 6P lens (i.e. an assembly of six lenses), where the latest iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, as well as the upcoming iPhone 16, have a 12 Mpxls 5P model.
Apple iPhone 17 with Face ID hidden under the screen?££££
Needless to say, the quality of images captured by the front sensor would be improved, with the addition of a lens to reduce distortion of light entering the lens, while increasing the number of pixels means increased resolution. In addition, and as a reminder, the iPhone 17 Pro would be the first iPhone to benefit from the Face ID functionality hidden under the screen, leaving only a perforation at the top of the front for the photo sensor. We would have to wait until 2027 and the iPhone 19 for all the sensors to be completely invisible on the screen.
