As usual, it was during the recent Unpacked conference that Samsung unveiled the new 2024 Galaxy S range, which this year highlights its capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, Samsung incorporating for the first time its Galaxy AI platform. The latter brings new features and improves certain already existing aspects thanks to the power of machine learning algorithms.
Samsung S24+, on-board AI££££
Notable mention for Instant Translation, sort of real-time interpreter which translates, for example, a telephone conversation with a person who does not speak your language (13 languages available, including French). Another feature highlighted, Circle to Find, with which you simply circle an object or other point of interest in a photo so that it is automatically located, recognized, and documented via a Google search. Exclusive for the moment on the Galaxy S24 range, Galaxy AI will arrive in 2024 on other models from last year, notably the Galaxy S23.
Samsung Galaxy S24+, screen and processor££££
The screen of the Galaxy S24+ is an LTPO Amoled 2X specimen, therefore 120 Hz, 6.7'' (17 cm), or 0.1'' more than the S23+, with a 19.5/9 ratio and a resolution of 1,440 x 3,120 pixels (compared to 1,080 of the S23+), HDR10+ compatibility, a peak light at 2,600 nits and a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating. On the performance side, Samsung has integrated the Deca Core Exynos 2400 Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor (1 x 3.2 GHz Cortex-X4 + 3 x 2.9 GHz Cortex-A720 + 3 x 2.6 GHz Cortex-A720 + 4 x 1.95 GHz Cortex-A520) engraved in 4 nm, supported by 12 GB of Ram memory (8 GB last year), 256 GB or 512 GB of Flash memory and an Xclipse 940 graphics chip.
Samsung Galaxy S24+, photo and video capabilities££££
When it comes to photography, Galaxy AI is at work for editing. As already mentioned, it is possible to surround a subject of your choice, isolate it, move it, change its size, or completely remove it from the frame. On the hardware side, the Galaxy S24+ has a triple sensor similar to that of its predecessor: 50 Mpxls wide-angle (f/1.8, 24 mm, 1.0 µm photosite, Dual Pixel, PDAF, stabilized) + ultra-large camera 12 Mpxls angle (f/2.2, 13 mm, 1.4 µm photosite, stabilized) e+ 10 Mpxls telephoto lens (f/2.4, 70 mm, 1.0 µm photosite, PDAF, stabilized, x3 optical zoom). For its part, the selfie camera is 12 Mpxls (Dual Pixel PDAF, 26 mm and f/2.2 aperture). We also note an LED flash.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, video capabilities££££
For video, Galaxy AI allows a new function that should please: the possibility of transforming a normal video into a slowed video at 120 frames per second. It is the artificial intelligence which is responsible for creating the intermediate images to generate a slow motion even if you had not planned it at the capture level.
On the capture side, the smartphone can naturally record video sequences in 4,320p resolution (Ultra HD 8K) up to 30 fps, 2,160p up to 60 fps, 1,080p up to 960 images per second. 2 160p up to 60 fps or 1080p up to 30 fps For the selfie camera. Of course, audio recording is always provided in stereo.
Samsung Galaxy S24+, connectivity££££
The Samsung Galaxy S24+ adopts Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and Wi-Fi 6th and 7. For its part, the battery has a capacity of 4,900 mAh and the fast charging function is required (45 W), the same goes for Reverse Charging (4.5 W) and wireless charging (15 W) .
Final details, the fingerprint sensor is placed under the screen, the Bixby, Samsung Pay, Samsung DeX functionalities are on board and we note the 384 kHz/32 bit compatibility in addition to the IP68 certification. Finally, Android 14 is in charge.
