Once a big competitor to Apple in the smartphone segment then excluded from Western countries due to American restrictions, the Chinese Huawei is apparently back, this time in the field of mixed reality headsets. Purpose of the maneuver: to put obstacles in the way of the new Apple Vision Pro headset and assert itself in a potential emerging market.

Indeed, according to a Weibo publication (via Tweaktown) from the former president of marketing of the Chinese manufacturer Meizu, Huawei is currently working on his own helmet codenamed "Vision". Subtle. The device should be lighter than the Apple model -350 grams versus 600 grams- and would be equipped with two Sony Ultra HD 4K Micro Oled screens, similar to those of the Vision Pro. All for a price half the $3,500 asked by Apple.

The rumor adds that Huawei is developing its own processors for its headset, a bit like Apple with its M2 and R1 chips, and that interactions will be done by gesture control with “almost no delayâ€. We also know that the Chinese manufacturer will not copy the EyeSight function, i.e. the display of the user's eyes on an external screen, for simplified and less expensive manufacturing.
