Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment are reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire the project, which is currently untitled and will be directed, produced and co-written by Iñárritu himself with Sabina Berman (Birdman).

This will be Tom Cruise's first film under his deal with Warner Bros. Pictures announced last month. The subject of the film and even the genre are jealously kept secret by its author. Only Tom Cruise and a few other hand-picked actors were allowed to know what it was all about. At the end of his first meeting with Iñárritu, Tom Cruise would have immediately committed to the project.
It will mark Iñárritu's first major studio film since 2015's The Revenant, which grossed more than $500 million at the worldwide box office. Tom Cruise will finally do something other than franchise sequels, and that's good news. Source: Deadline
