From Chucky to Chauncey, the evil teddy bear from Blumhouse: beware of cuddly toys!

Today's theatrical release of Imaginary by Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare, Nightmare Island) made us want to take out some not very nice movie comforters. Chauncey, the latest nasty fleece toy from Blumhouse studios, had better watch out, because his predecessors (with one exception) are no joke when it comes to gore and violence...

Return to 1986 where Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) directed Dolls, a horror tale inspired by Hansel and Gretel. Taking refuge in an isolated mansion from the storm, tyrannical parents and their little daughter Judy (Carrie Lorraine) prepare to spend a terrifying night with malicious dolls. The strength of the film is based on the need to believe in the marvelous and to keep one's childish soul, the only shield against the ferocious attacks of the dolls, determined to eradicate grown-ups who have become cynical.

Two years later, Tom Holland introduced a new kind of serial killer with Chucky (Child's Play), a famous indestructible doll with red hair who would go on to commit a series of murders and sequels (not always successful, see Chucky's Son in 2004 and Chucky's Curse in 2013, in photo).

Chucky's Curse: available on AppleTV+

In 1998, the naughty doll even found herself a shock partner in the delirious Chucky's Bride by Ronny Yu. But actually, what is the name of Chucky's evil bride? We give it to you in a thousand: Tiffany!

If Chauncey plays an evil stuffed toy, Ted (Seth MacFarlane , 2012) ventures into the crazy territory of the buddy movie. Behind his cute appearance, this childhood friend turns out to be a big beer drinker, smoker and flirt, flanked by a hell of a lot of very heavy jokes... So, rather Ted the Awful or Chauncey the Terrible?
