According to Variety magazine, the Oppenheimer director's next project should be an adaptation of the cult British series which dates from 1967 created by (and with) Patrick McGoohan and George Markstein.

The 17-episode series features a British secret agent who, just after resigning, is kidnapped by a mysterious group and held prisoner in “the Village†, a place from which one cannot escape and where one's only name is a number. N°6 has only two solutions to leave the Village: admit the reason for his resignation or find a way to escape...
Christopher Nolan had already been associated with a similar project in 2009 but the release of the remake series from the AMC channel with Jim Caviezel, Ruth Wilson and Sir Ian McKellen, had pushed him to give up. Fifteen years later, the director would be inclined to bring the project to fruition. Other sources suggest that now that the Oscars are behind him, he has already started writing a new screenplay.
