A realistic political thriller which will be broadcast on France 2, the series is an adaptation of the eponymous novel co-written in 2011 by Édouard Philippe and his advisor Gilles Boyer (they also participated in the script), offering an immersion behind the scenes of an election presidential. The events take place in 2025 and follow more precisely the advisors and communicators from the shadows. Are all resemblances, collusions or links with existing characters fortuitous? Even if the former Prime Minister has not yet filed his candidacy for the real election of 2027, the question arises and risks giving the series a very particular tone.

In the Shadow (6 x 52 minutes) features César Casalonga (Swann Arlaud, the lawyer in Anatomy of a Fall) who has two passions in life: his profession of political advisor where he excels as a strategist, and his boss, Paul Francoeur (Melvil Poupaud), whom he has accompanied for twenty years in the rise which should lead him to the presidency of the Republic. Also in the cast, Karin Viard, Evelyne Brochu and Sofian Khammes.
The whole thing is masterfully orchestrated by Pierre Schoeller, showrunner and director to whom we owe the excellent L'exercise de l'Etat with 2001. If the first two episodes were presented in preview at Série Mania (March 15 to 22), filming of this first season continues at least until the summer. Which suggests that the series will not be broadcast before the start of the school year.
