The story takes place in 1991 in Miami, a few years before Dexter became a serial killer. Patrick Gibson and Molly Brown will play the “younger” versions of Dexter and Debra respectively.

Patrick Dempsey, aka Dr Derek Shepherd, aka Dr Mamours in the series Grey's Anatomy, also seen recently in the recent Ferrari by Michael Mann, will play the role of Aaron Spencer, the captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department who has a decades-long relationship with Dexter's father, Harry Morgan, played here by Christian Slater (Mr. Robot).
James Martinez, Christina Milian (Madame M. Pokora in the city), Alex Shimizu and Reno Wilson complete the cast of the series which does not yet have a broadcast date.
