The American bundle provider Bango (via Advanced Television) conducted a survey a few weeks ago among 2 000 subscribers to sports channels, and 3,000 users of [abc]OTT[/abc] services. It appears that 29% of Americans will subscribe to a new streaming platform, solely to follow the Olympics. Sports fans generally subscribe to several services -7 on average, instead of 5 for “non-sporters” - and they are willing to spend more. But the sports [abc]VOD[/abc] sector has its constraints: scattered broadcasting rights and rising prices which motivate a demand for more centralized services or for illegal offers.

Without this solution, 55% of sports subscribers even admit to turning to piracy.
