Philips OLED959 TV: price and availability update

The indicative price of the Philips 65OLED959 Oled TV, the only reference in the Philips OLED959 series, initially planned for the spring but postponed to the fourth quarter, is now (almost) definitively known.

The unique Philips reference 65OLED959 (65'', 165 cm) caps the brand's 2024 TV range by integrating the best of current technologies and all the know-how of the in-house engineers.

Philips OLED959, 5.1.2 sound section by Bowers & Wilkins££££

We find on Philips 65OLED959 TV a 5.1.2 sound section by Bowers & Wilkins. At the front, we discover an LCR (Left, Center, Right) configuration with two new custom-developed, high-output 30 x 50 mm drivers, plus a 19 mm titanium dome tweeter for each channel. On the sides, two 30 x 50 mm speakers are present, while the two Atmos channels also have two 30 x 50 mm speakers. By adding the 75mm subwoofer placed at the rear, the Philips 65OLED959 TV integrates a total of 18 speakers. Each speaker is covered in slate-colored Kadvrat Audiomix fabric. We must also mention four 45 x 65 mm passive membranes reinforcing the impact of the bass. The maximum power delivered, through 12 digital amplification channels, displays 102 W, and each channel benefits from its own rigid compartment for efficient acoustic isolation, a wide soundstage and perfectly intelligible dialogue. Please note, the Philips 65OLED959 TV can accommodate a subwoofer as reinforcement for those who wish.

Philips OLED959, Ambilight Plus function££££

The three-sided Ambilight function is still required, but in a Plus version in 2024. This, more sophisticated, uses special lenses on each LED of color for a larger, more dynamic colored halo and stunning two-dimensional effects. Up to four distinct halos can be projected, each at different depths from the screen for increased immersion. Of course, as for two years, the color diodes placed at the back of the TV are managed independently and no longer by group of diodes, for significantly more precise synchronization with the images displayed on the screen.

Immediately adapt to the brightness of dimly lit scenes or to reduce clipping in very bright scenes.

The AI Machine Sharpness V2 function, equipped with new algorithms, takes advantage of the additional power of the P5 and its co-processor to increase the sharpness and realism of content. For its part, the Smart Bit Enhancement V3 process magnifies 8-bit video signals with 14-bit internal processing to eliminate the Banding phenomenon, particularly present on Oled TV panels.

For example, Smooth mode offers hyper-smooth movement with minimal Input Lag, 40 ms compared to 200 ms last year. The player can choose from several game profiles (FPS, RPG, etc.). The same goes for Ambilight. Namely, the Game Bar displays an fps counter (number of frames per second) to best configure the parameters of a game.
