City of God, the sequel to the shocking film becomes a series on Max

"If you leave, you're dead, and if you stay, you're dead too." This shocking Brazilian adage illustrates the perilous living conditions of favela residents. In 2002, Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, Blindness) and Katia Lund directed City of God, a prodigious drama set in the hell of the Rio slums. Max, the Warner Bros platform, announces the broadcast of a series which takes place twenty years later, City of God: the fight continues.

Return to violent neighborhoods plagued by drug trafficking. Created by Sergio Machado for HBO, the 6-episode series reconnects with the community of the hyper-violent city and in particular the character of Buscapé, the photographer played by Alexandre Rodrigues. Thiago Martins, Roberta Rodrigues, Sabrina Rosa, Kiko Marques and Edson Oliveira, the actors of the original cast, collaborated with young talents from different communities in Rio de Janeiro. Broadcast scheduled for August 26 on Max.
