In 1987, director Clive Barker released the film Hellraiser: The Pact, inspired by a short novel by the same Clive Backer. The film won the Special Prize at Avoriaz the following year.

The story of Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman), happy owner of an antique puzzle, who One day he realizes that his strange golden cube is in reality capable of triggering horror and sadism, even sadomasochism. With a budget of 1 million dollars, the film would bring in more than 14 million at the US box office alone. A success which gave rise to no less than nine more or less successful sequels and a reboot in 2022, directed by David Bruckner. On October 15, the first four films in the saga (digitized in 4K) will therefore be double-locked in a new box set to be published by L'atelier d'images.
