Android 15 is coming, but Android 14 is still lagging behind

Unlike iPhone users, Android rebels do not regularly update their operating system and stick with an old Android.

The new Android 15 operating system (OS) will be released in a few weeks with Google Pixel 9 smartphones. This is enough to expect that most non-Apple smartphones will run on the most recent Android 14 launched at the end of 2023. Well, that is not the case!

Android operating system, the heterogeneity of implementation££££

The Android smartphone market is indeed subject to a large fragmentation in terms of model types and price ranges. As a result, the update discipline found among iPhone users does not exist among owners of smartphones from other manufacturers.

Thus, according to the latest figures from Google, the most used OS is Android 13, which appeared in 2022, installed on 20.9% of Android mobiles. To immediately end the suspense, know that Android 14 is only in fifth position, present on 13% of smartphones, ahead of Android 11 (19%), Android 12 (14.7%) and even the "old" Android 10 from 2019 (13.6%).
