Smartphone manufacturers have been trying to get rid of the classic mechanical button for a while now, but technical difficulties still stand in their way. For example, Apple's capacitive button, which has been rumored for years, may only arrive this year on the iPhone 16 via the new "Capture" button.

So, while waiting for the leader to show the way, it will probably be Xiaomi (which occupies third place on the podium on the smartphone market) which will offer the first model without a button, switch or even a capacitive button, like the Mi Mix Alpha prototype presented five years ago.

According to sources from the smartprix site, Xiaomi will unveil a new concept at the beginning of next year, codenamed Project Zhuque, and equipped with the next high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. The selfie camera, hidden under the screen, will apparently be of better quality than the previous attempts by Samsung or ZTE. It remains to be seen whether the model will remain at the concept stage or will (finally) be intended to be marketed.
