IFA 24 > Samsung S95D with glossy panel presented in Berlin?

The rumor has been circulating for a few weeks that Samsung could soon unveil a version of its QD Oled Samsung S95D TV series equipped with a glossy panel instead of a matte panel. Surprise, such a model is already marketed in Germany under the reference S9D.

As you already know, one of the key specifications of the Samsung S95D QD Oled TVs (click on the Samsung TQ65S95D reference to discover the full test of the product by the AVcesar editorial team) is its incredibly efficient anti-reflective coating.

However, in a very bright environment, the blacks displayed on the matte screen of the S95D TVs appear less dense than on a screen with a glossy panel. Even if, when tested in daily use, this is a point that ultimately appears very relative, it bothers some consumers. Thus, in order to meet their wishes, Samsung has decided to offer in Germany a version of its Samsung TQ65S95D TV under the Samsung 65S9D reference, the particularity of which lies in the absence of the anti-reflective coating replaced by a glossy Oled panel. There is, however, some doubt about the QD Oled nature of this 65S9D specimen. Indeed, in addition to the coating of the Oled panel, the HDR+ label of the S9D differs from that of HDR Pro of the S95D, a label used by the S90D TV series. For the rest, the specifications correspond to those of the S95D series, in particular the presence of the One Connect box. Answer in a few hours, after the opening this weekend of the IFA show in Berlin, on the Samsung manufacturer's stand.

At the time of writing, and assuming that it is indeed a QD Oled diffuser with a glossy panel, the Samsung 65S9D TV would be available only in Germany. Is this a test run by Samsung to decide on a future expansion of its availability in other territories? Again, the answer at the IFA show in Berlin…
