As early as 2015, we had heard of a film adaptation of the Minecraft video game, and rather than joining the long list of projects aborted after a few years, this unexpected adventure was brought to fruition. Its first trailer has just been unveiled to the sound of the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour.

Led by Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Game of Thrones) with an impossible wig screwed on his head and a pink leather jacket that is too small, the very hairy cast also features actor Jack Black (in the role of Steve, the "hero") who is not at his first attempt at video games since he has already played the villain Bowser in the Super Mario Bros. film. As for the Minecraft game, let's remember that it is one of the biggest success stories in the history of video games despite minimalist cubic graphics. Created by a single man, the Swede Markus Persson, the title was then bought by Microsoft for the trifle of 2.5 billion dollars.
Not to be confused with the Netflix animated series of the same name, the film will be released in theaters in April 2025.
