Xgimi Aura 2: ultra-short throw, UHD 4K, Android TV 11 and Dual Light 2.0

After the first generation Aura, not without its faults, the Chinese manufacturer announces the Aura 2 video projector revised and largely corrected to integrate the latest technologies of the manufacturer with the ambition of an unprecedented image quality at an affordable price.

Unlike the first Aura, the Xgimi Aura 2 will be marketed alone or in a pack with an ALR type technical projection screen.

Xgimi Aura 2, video specifications and ergonomics££££

The Xgimi Aura 2 features all the technologies already present on the original Aura, namely [abc]DLP[/abc] technology associated with a 0.47'' [abc]DMD[/abc] chip with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (3,840 x 2,160 pixels display with Texas Instrument's XPR4 wobulation technology), MEMC motion compensation, [abc]HDR10[/abc] and HDR Dolby Vision compatibility, Imax Enhanced certification, an extended color space... The peak light output is announced by Xgimi at 2,300 lumens from a light source with a long lifespan of 20,000 hours. Namely, the Xgimi Aura 2 is a [abc]3D Ready[/abc] model.

The Xgimi Aura 2 features the in-house Dual Light 2.0 technology. However, this is very different from the process implemented on the Horizon Max unveiled at the CES 2024 show in Las Vegas last January. The laser and phosphorescent LED duo gives way to the combination of a narrow-spectrum [abc]RGB[/abc] laser and another simple laser (without further details) with a wide spectrum. The result appears remarkable with 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, up 19% compared to the first Aura.

Finally, we find ISA 5.0 technology for fully automatic projection. Focus, keystone correction, obstacle avoidance, adaptation to the color of the wall or projection screen… All associated with an ultra-fast 3D ToF sensor and a motorized optical block. We can also mention the Eco Mode function: the Xgimi Aura 2 reduces its light intensity after 5 minutes of inactivity and, if you leave the room, turns off after 20 minutes thanks to a presence radar sensor. To turn back on instantly when you return.

Xgimi Aura 2, Android TV 11££££

In the Smart TV section, the Xgimi Aura includes the Android 11 function (with [abc]Chromecast (integrated)[/abc]) offering direct access to the Google universe, with of course the applications of the main streaming services: Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten and YouTube (but still not Netflix)… Lastly, to display an image of 100'', or 254 cm, the necessary distance is only 17.8 centimeters. This is the main advantage of an ultra-short throw video projector.

Xgimi Aura 2, audio specifications££££

The 2.0 sound section, compatible with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] and [abc]DTS-HD[/abc], is signed by a big name in the audio world, Harman Kardon. It is based on four speakers (two [abc]tweeters[/abc] and two [abc]midranges[/abc]-[abc]boomers[/abc]) and Class D amplification. The total power delivered is 60 W (4 x 15 W).

Xgimi Aura 2, connectivity identical to that of a TV££££

The connectivity includes two [abc]HDMI[/abc] 2.0 inputs, one HDMI 2.1 with management of the [abc]ARC[/abc] function, one [abc]optical[/abc] output, one 3.5 mm mini-Jack headphone output, three USB 2.0 ports and one [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port. There are also [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ax and [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.2 compatibilities.
