Currently, only the 85 and 98-inch models will be renewed, under the references TCL 85X965 and TCL 98X965. The possibility of introducing the TCL 115X965 model could be considered in spring 2025, with a possible presentation at the next CES show in Las Vegas, scheduled for next January. Namely, these new models have the reference X11H in China.
TCL X965: 6th generation Mini LED££££The TCL X965 models are distinguished by their sixth generation Mini [abc]LED[/abc] backlight, called OD2, which is characterized by a distance of only 2 mm between the backlight system and the [abc]LCD[/abc] panel. These TVs, featuring [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, also feature a native 10-bit panel.
The X965 series TVs represent the pinnacle of TCL technology, with an exceptional number of backlight zones: 10,368 zones for the 85-inch model and 14,000 zones for the 98-inch model. These devices are equipped with very small diodes, measuring 100 microns, with a lens that improves the light diffusion angle to 160°, compared to 130° for previous models. This lens not only improves screen uniformity by reducing the Clouding phenomenon by 60.63%, but also minimizes Blooming, which is manifested by halos around bright elements on a dark background.
The backlighting system of the TCL X965 incorporates the technological advances of the previous models, TCL 845 or TCL X955. The LED diodes used are identical in terms of efficiency and colorimetric characteristics, thus guaranteeing optimal image homogeneity. In addition, these LEDs are capable of changing state very quickly, eliminating shadows on moving objects thanks to Direct Drive technology. This precise control of brightness, which is carried out over a million steps, ensures faithful reproduction of the slightest image variations.
TCL X965, technical specifications and connectivity££££
The TCL X965 displays an impressive peak brightness of 6,500 nits, combined with a matte LCD panel, thus offering high-quality visual rendering. QLED technology allows 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. In terms of connectivity, these TVs are equipped with four certified [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]2.1[/abc] ports, compatible with [abc]HFR[/abc] 4K/120, [abc]eARC[/abc], [abc]VRR[/abc], FreeSync Premium Pro and [abc]ALLM[/abc] technologies. Other connectors include a [abc]Composite[/abc] input, an [abc]Optical[/abc] output, three [abc]USB[/abc][abc]3.0[/abc] ports, an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port, a headphone output and a [abc]CI+[/abc] port.
TCL X965, audio features and Smart TV££££
On the audio front, we learned at the manufacturer's conference at the IFA show in Berlin last week that the TCL X965s feature a 6.2.2 audio system by Bang & Olufsen and not Onkyo as announced in our previous news, compatible with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc], [abc]DTS:X[/abc] and [abc]DTS[/abc] Virtual:X. These TVs also feature a [abc]DVB-T2[/abc], DVB-S2 and [abc]DVB-C[/abc] tuner. As for Smart TV features, they run on Google TV (Android 12) and support [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 6 connectivity as well as [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.2. [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] and HomeKit certifications, as well as compatibility with Alexa, are also present, allowing for seamless integration into a connected environment.
TCL X965, gaming experience and availability££££
The TCL X965 is also aimed at video game enthusiasts thanks to the Game [abc]Master[/abc] Pro 3.0 feature, which manages a frequency of 144 Hz and offers a minimal Input [abc]Lag[/abc] of less than 6 ms with a 120 Hz signal. DLG (Dual Line Gate) technology allows a resolution of [abc]1080p[/abc] to be displayed at 240 Hz, guaranteeing a smooth gaming experience.
The availability of these models is expected for the month of December. Indicative prices still unknown.
