Marantz Model 60n, 2.0 amplifier and network player

After its new range of Home Cinema amplifiers, with the Marantz Cinema 70s, Marantz Cinema 60 DAB, Marantz Cinema 50, Marantz Cinema 40, Marantz AV10 and Marantz AV10, after the Marantz Model 50 and Marantz Model 10 amplifiers, the brand is expanding its Hi-Fi offering with the Marantz Model 60n.

To make a long story short, the Marantz Model 60n borrows many specifications from the Marantz Model 40n that appeared in the brand's catalog in 2022.

Marantz Model 60n, main technologies implemented££££

The Marantz Model 60n has many audiophile specifications. First, a high-current transformer capable of delivering a comfortable power of 2 x 60 W under 8 ohms (2 x 80 W under 4 ohms). Then, we notice two exclusive Elna main capacitors with a capacity of 15,000 microfarads each. Huge! Namely, these are placed on the same printed circuit board as the power transistors, the aim being to reduce the power supply lines as much as possible and minimize impedance, a source of better audio quality and increased dynamics.

We also note exclusive HDAM-SA3 audiophile components and a high-flying ESS Sabre digital-to-analog converter for handling [abc]Alac[/abc], [abc]Flac[/abc] or [abc]Wav[/abc] files up to 192 kHz/24 bits and [abc]DSD[/abc] 2.8/5.6 MHz at the time of writing. A [abc]Firmware[/abc] update will quickly allow management of 384 kHz/32 bits and DSD 11.2 megahertz files. Also noteworthy, the digital and network section is fully shielded, it can even be deactivated (Pure mode) to reduce interference in the case of analog sources. Similarly, the audio signal path is optimized from the source to the amplification stages. For its part, the aluminum heat sink cut from the mass, placed between the power supply and the audio circuits, is used as a separator, again and again to reduce interference. Of course, the front panel and remote control also adopt the aluminum material.

Marantz Model 60n, Heos multiroom module££££

Of course, the Marantz Model 60n also benefits from the Heos multiroom functionality to easily transform this amplifier/DAC/Network player into a link in a larger Heos audio chain including, for example, real Denon Home active speakers to provide sound for a home.

Other associated functions of the Marante Model 60n include access to Spotify services (Spotify Connect compatibility), Amazon Music HD, Tidal, Deezer… Plus access to thousands of [abc]webradios[/abc] via TuneIn or to a local music library shared on the home network through the [abc]UPnP[/abc] audio gateway function ([abc]DLNA[/abc]) and [abc]Bluetooth[/abc], [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] and [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] compatibilities. Roon Ready certification is also included.

Marantz Model 60n, the connectivity££££

On the connectivity side -gold plated- the Marantz Model 60n has a Phono MM input, three [abc]RCA[/abc] inputs and a Recorder input/output. Not to mention two pairs of screw terminals, an [abc]optical[/abc] input, a [abc]coaxial[/abc] input, a subwoofer output plus a USB Host port and an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port. There is also an [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]CEC[/abc] and [abc]eARC[/abc] input to easily connect the TV and enhance its sound performance ([abc]PCM[/abc] signal exclusively), plus a Pre-Out Power Amp Direct input to use, for example, the Marantz Model 60n as an amplifier on a pair of front speakers in a multichannel system configured from an audio-video amplifier. For completeness, note that a 6.3 mm headphone output is present on the front.

Available from mid-September in black or silver/gold. Recommended price: 1,500 euros.
