At Gamescom in late August, and again at IFA in Berlin, Samsung introduced the Odyssey 3D, a monitor for "gamers" that displays a three-dimensional image without the need for special glasses.

The device takes advantage of Light Field Display (LFD) technology, which transforms basic 2D images into autostereoscopic 3D by using a lenticular lens on the front layer of the screen. Also used are Eye Tracking, which monitors eye movement with an integrated camera, and View Mapping, which continuously adjusts the image to improve depth perception. It is possible to switch between 2D and 3D freely, and the 4K 165Hz display comes in 27" (68.5 cm) and 37" (94 cm) sizes. That is to say, as is customary with lenticular technology, only one person can enjoy the relief effect in front of the screen.
