Stolen mail, immediately found (by Apple Air Tag)

Yet another example of a crime quickly solved by a simple gadget, in this case Apple's AirTag tracker.

Apple's AirTag tracker occasionally finds itself at the center of stories involving theft of items, sometimes for the benefit of the victim, other times for the benefit of the criminal. The story we're reporting today fortunately falls into the former category, with mail thieves duly apprehended.

Stolen mail, the tables turned££££

In late August, a California woman was fed up with having her mail stolen from a PO box she owned at the Los Alamos post office in the Santa Maria Valley. She decided to take matters into her own hands and send herself a package containing an Apple AirTag tracker. Without further ado, the package disappeared and she immediately alerted the police, who managed to track down and arrest two suspects using Apple's gadget. At the scene, the latter discovered other objects supposedly stolen from other victims.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office congratulated the woman for her creative approach, and especially for involving law enforcement in order to ensure a successful and safe arrest.
