The ZAZ (nothing to do with the singer) are being arrested

In the '80s, David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, three filmmakers who worked together under the acronym ZAZ, revolutionized comedy with an extraordinary sense of the absurd. A limited edition (and 4K) box set of their three best films is coming this November.

Airplane? (1980), Top Secret! (1984) and Can You Save the Queen? (1988), the first three films by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker marked the history of comedy and incidentally made Leslie Nielsen a star.

Before Les Nuls, Les ZAZ££££

It must be said that we had rarely seen parodies of this type in the cinema, except for a few Mel Brooks. Les ZAZ pushed the cork very far, often surfing with bad taste, without ever falling into it, but with a love of cinema that transpires from each often ultra-referenced gag. Les Nuls (and a bunch of YouTubers) owe them everything!

Since then, parodies like ZAZ (the Hot Shots or Scary Movie series) have invaded screens, big and small, with varying degrees of success, but certainly without ever reaching the quality of their peers.

The 4K Collector's box set, which will bring together Airplane? (1980), Top Secret! (1984) and Save the Queen?, plus a booklet and three posters, is announced for November 20 by Paramount.
