Fransat TV Stick, simplified satellite reception

Fransat presents a USB TV key to facilitate satellite TV reception for those who do not yet have optimal DTT or internet coverage.

At the IBC2024 (International Broadcasting Convention) held from 13 to 16 September in Amsterdam, Fransat presented a small USB box for TVs, simplifying satellite reception for [abc]DTT[/abc] and satellite TV.

Fransat TV Stick: goodbye decoder or PCMCIA module££££

The Fransat TV Stick is a very small access module, using the CI+ 2.0 standard to integrate satellite broadcast encryption features. The CI+ 2.0 standard is already adopted by several TV manufacturers such as Hisense, LG and Philips, and others are expected to follow in 2025 to make the transition from the old PCMCIA interface. Because this is the great evolution of the Fransat TV Stick, no need to use the PCMCIA port with a suitable module and the associated subscription card, the key is inserted into the USB port of the latest generations of televisions equipped with a satellite tuner (DVB-S2) to provide access to all [abc]HD[/abc] and [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] satellite channels (with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] and [abc]HDR[/abc] if available). Navigation is provided with the television remote control, without requiring an additional box or cabling.

Let us remember that many French homes located in areas with low population density (10% of them) have limited access to DTT, or do not have enough bandwidth to receive HD and UHD channels via the internet, hence satellite reception as an alternative solution.

Availability announced for the end of 2024. Indicative price still unknown.
