Roku and the National Research Group (NRG) recently conducted a survey in the United States to find out the habits of [abc]streaming[/abc] video users with regard to going to the cinema.
Cinema is becoming more attractive again££££
The options for watching content at home, particularly films, are becoming more numerous and some people no longer see much reason to go to the cinema, a trend that has become more pronounced during the health crisis, with Covid-19 having dealt a severe blow to the 7th art industry. However, the survey reveals that going out to sit in front of a big screen is not about to disappear (see our news item Cinema torpedoed by streaming? Not so sure…).
Cinema or streaming? The pros and cons…
A closer look at this study reveals the reasons why moviegoers (those who went to the movies at least once last year) prefer the big screen:
• Some movies should only be seen on the big screen: 50%
• Watching a movie with friends, family, or on a date: 46%
• Enjoying the experience of going to the movies: 46%
• Treating yourself: 44%
• The audio and video quality is better at the movies: 43%
In comparison, here are the arguments given by [abc]streaming[/abc] fans to stay at home:
• Cheaper to watch at home: 62%
• Being able to watch content at the desired time: 59%
• Appreciating being able to stay in your privacy: 45%
• Being able to pause or rewind at will: 45%
• More comfortable watching a film at home: 40%
