AI and video games: what does Nintendo think?

Shigeru Miyamoto, legendary creator of Mario and Zelda among others, shares his thoughts on new generative uses of artificial intelligence in video games.

"There's a lot of talk about AI. Everyone starts going in the same direction, but that's when Nintendo decides to go in a different direction," Shigeru Miyamoto explained in an interview with the New York Times. Miyamoto is Nintendo's star designer, creator of Mario and Zelda, among others. He continued: "It might seem like we're going in the opposite direction just on principle, but in reality, we're just trying to find what makes Nintendo unique."
