Samsung, with its flagship [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]8K[/abc] TV series equipped with the super-powerful NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, is the first TV brand to offer support for an Ultra HD [abc]4K[/abc] signal at 240 hertz. Several models available on the market already offer support for a 240 Hz signal (TCL…), but with a definition [abc]1080p[/abc] via the Dual Line Gate (DLG) process, which allows 240 Hz to be reached by reducing the vertical resolution by half, i.e. 1080p on a 4K UHD screen.
Samsung QN900D, 240 Hz in 2,160p££££
At the CES show in Las Vegas 2024, if Samsung had announced that its QN900D televisions (the only references in the 2024 TV range and therefore the only TVs on the market) would support a 240 Hz signal, it was necessary to understand that this would be the case in [abc]1,080p[/abc] but also in [abc]2,160p[/abc]. Okay. But this still remained to be confirmed. Which we were unable to do during our almost exhaustive test bench of the Samsung TQ65QN900D specimen (click on the reference to discover our test), not having a suitable gaming PC at the time of receiving the screen in our laboratory. Confirmation came to us a few weeks ago from our colleagues at the Rtings site, who were able to test the 65" in these conditions.
Samsung therefore becomes the first television brand, with an 8K UHD broadcaster, to support 240 hertz 4K UHD.
